I am more interested in the Business Leadership aspect, but for my application it is asking ways information technology has helped businesses operate more effectively and asks to give concrete examples. If you could please give me a summary of what Information technology is, and some examples of the way it has helped I will derive my own answers. Thanks in advance.

Best high school courses to take to become an accountant? I am currently in eleventh grade and I'm planning to switch out of AP Bio to a course that would benefit my future in becoming an accountant. I am already taking Accounting. The courses that are available right now are: - Marketing (College course) - Entrepreneurship (College course) - Info and Technology (open course) - Business Leadership (Gr. 12 Uni/College course) - International Business Fundamentals (Gr. 12 Uni/College) - Economics (Gr. 11 Uni/College) I'm kinda leaning towards Entrepreneurship or one of the gr. 12 courses. I'm worried that if I take a college course (such as Entrepreneurship), it will affect my chances of getting into a good University. Please help!!!

I want to be a business lawyer. All info appreciates PLEASE!!! I currently go to ASU. I am getting my bachelors of applied science in Operations Management Technology. For a little extra info this is what my degree is about: The B.A.S is a "capstone" or "inverted transfer" degree for the Associate of Applied Science degree. In completing the B.A.S you will complete all ASU graduation requirements. The B.A.S. online degree exposes students to advanced concepts and diverse critical thinking skills that prepare them for future career opportunities and professional advancement. The goal of the program is to provide you with management, leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills—along with significant work in a professional specialization—that will broaden your career horizons, promote life-long learning, and enrich your personal and civic life. I have been told that 6 months before graduation I should start applying to law schools. I live in Arizona and want to know if it would be in my best interest to go to law school in a different state; possibly east coast or else where? Also, I've heard that it is pointless to get your JD in law unless you are planning to teach. Is this true or will it help my salary and knowledge of law to practice? Also, what should I get my Masters in? My long term goal is to be a lawyer in international business law. Also, I know that it would be smart for me to learn different languages. What languages would be best to learn for international business as well as for school when applying to law schools? I was thinking about buying Rosetta Stone (RosettaStone.com) to learn different languages. I've heard nothing but positive remarks regarding this software and I know the government uses it. What do you think? I would just really appreciate all information just to help for guidance since I have two years left until I graduate and I know that I really need to start thinking about my plan for law school, etc. Thank you!! So much!! You can also contact me through IM on Yahoo Messenger: Nikg35 Thanks again!
Do you think that Racism is rife in Australian Business? Recent comments by Sol Trujillos that Australia is racist and backwards raises questions on what people out there think. An immigrant myself and recently naturalised, I find that Sol's words resonate with me. Anyone with coloured skin working in corporate Australia will no doubt feel racism in many ways. The most common is the glass ceilings created in the companies so that only white heterosexual males can progress through the ranks. Companies use all kinds of excuses to justify this. They often think that the coloured employees are not wise to this discrimination occurring, but one only has to listen to water cooler conversations and conversations outside work to realise that this is not so. As far as backwardness is concerned, just look at the technologies employed in some of Australia's leading businesses and the accompanying mindset of the Australians. Having worked around the world, one can easily see that Australia is behind many countries by decades. The quality of skilled and unskilled labour in this country is atrocious. The drecepit education system is to blame for this. For a country that prides itself on free press, it is ironic how uninformed Australians are about the rest of the world and their place in it. Now the standard white Aussie respond to my comments would be, "if you don't like this, then why don't you leave" or "if you cant blend in, then you should leave". I hear this all the time, as I'm sure most colured people do. It is a standard whiteman's response if confronted with difficult issues like this, in an attempt to dominate and intimidate, so that the issue disappears. Well, to this I say, I am an Aussie citizen and I am here to stay. It may come as a surprise, that I can say the same of you, so that if you don't like me being here, then perhaps you should leave. As Australia does alot of business with Asians, I think that Asian companies should ask the question why racism is allowed to fluorish in corporate Auustralia. Perhaps there should be a criteria in place, where Asian companies will only do business with non-racist companies just as Australian companies are so paranoid about doing business with companies violating human rights in Asia. I belive that a quid-pro-quo approach will have a positive impact on corporate Australia. I think this will manifest itself in more coloured people taking leadership roles in corporations and bringing in new values and outlooks that will only enrich Australia. I would like to know what you think.
MANAGEMENT THEORY QUESTION STYLES OF LEADERSHIP? Ok so this is a story and I need help answering the 3 questions that follow. Hope you can help :] "Toyota's tough boss" Hiroshi Okuda is not afraid to speak his mind or impose radical change in an organisation. And because of these traits, he is memorable at Toyota Motor Corporation www.global.toyota.com where he is the chairman of the board. Prior to becoming chairman, Okuda served as Toyota's president - the first non-family member in over 30 years to head the company. He also is unusual among other Japanese executives because, in Japan, executives are supposed to be unseen. Okuda justifies his outspoken and aggressive style as being necessary to change a company that had become lethargic and bureaucratic. Okuda moved ahead at Toyota by taking jobs that other employees did not want. For example, in the early 1980s the company was trying to build a manufacturing facility in Taiwan, but the Taiwanese government's demands for high local content, technology transfer and guaranteed exports convinced many at Toyota that the project should be scrapped. Okuda thought differently. He successfully lobbied for the facility in the company, and it is now very profitable for Toyota. As Okuda noted, 'Everyone wanted to give up. But I restarted the project and led it to success.' His drive and ability to overcome obstacles were central to his rise in the company's hierarchy. When Okuda ascended to the presidency of Toyota in early 1995, the company was losing market share in Japan to both Mitsubishi and Honda. Okuda attributed this problem to several factors. Toyota had been losing touch with Japanese customers for years. For example, when engineers redesigned the Corolla in 1991, they made it too big and too expensive for Japanese tastes. Then, four years later, in an attempt to lower costs significantly, they stripped out so many features in the car that the Corolla looked too cheap. Competitors, on the other hand, had also done a much better job of identifying the boom in recreational vehicles - especially the sport-utility market. Toyota's burdensome bureaucracy also bothered Okuda. A decision that took only five minutes to filter through at Suzuki Motor Corporation would take upwards of three weeks at Toyota. In his first 18 months on the job, Okuda implemented some drastic changes. In a country where lifetime employment is consistent with the culture, he replaced nearly one-third of Toyota's highest-ranking executives. He revamped Toyota's long-standing promotion system based on seniority, adding performance as a factor. Some outstanding performers moved up several management levels at one time - something unheard of in the history of the company. Okuda also worked with the company's vehicle designers to increase the speed at which a vehicle went from concept to market. What once took 27 months was shortened to 18 months. And now the company is making a custom car within five days of receiving an order. Finally, Okuda is using the visibility of his job to address larger societal issues facing all Japanese businesses. For instance, he accused Japan's Finance Ministry of trying to destroy the car industry by driving up the yen's value. And he has been an audible voice in the country, condemning the lax lending practices that forced Japanese banks to write off billions of dollars in bad loans and led, in part, to that country's economic crisis in the late 1990s and early 2000. Unfortunately, some of Okuda's action may have backfired. It has been suggested that the reason he was removed as president of the company in June 1999 was that he had overstepped the boundary at times by his blunt demands for change; and his refusal to bail out other members of the Toyota keiretsu may have offended the founding Toyota family. However, even though he was no longer president, his strategic leadership helped him to be appointed to the chairman's job. QUESTIONS 1. How would you describe Hiroshi Okuda's leadership style? Cite specific examples supporting your choice. 2. When a company is in crisis, do you believe that a radical change in leadership is required to turn the company around? Support your position. 3. Would you describe Okuda's leadership style as (a) charismatic, (b) visionary, and (c) culturally consistent with Japanese practices? Explain.

Help in Going Green in a School? My daughter's school is Technology/Leadership based and also focuses on the Global market - meaning helping students realize that the world (work and personal) does not revolve just around them and their local community (which is important but not the end all). The school also is strong on Personal Responsibility. With that said I would like to introduce to the Principal and PTSO (this is a middle/high school) as many ideas to go green and as many grants/financial incentives to do this. The school is building a few new buildings the next few years and I would love to have them as green as possible. I am not trying to pass off all the work to the school - I am more than willing to do my part. I know that funding is very tight so if there are grants/incentives/program... that help with these types of projects I would greatly appreciate it. This school also does alot with Business Partnerships. We are located in Florida, if that helps. Thanks I have already said that many of these ideas are not just for the teachers to do but I as a parent and other parents can help with these things. Also there is no reason the school can't take the RESPONSIBILITY (what they teach students) and Do things such as Rain Barrels, Composting and reducing Waste which doesn't cost money. Besides what is so bad about being Environmentally Minded. As I stated this school focus is Technology, Leadership & Responsibility in a Global Market (not just locally). There are ideas that don't cost anything or very little and as I said I don't mind helping out and getting others to help out and if there are grants and such or even FREE things that works too.

Political leadership or hard worker honest people taking care of family?? In this dreadful election season, many politicians have promised to "lead us into the future." I can hardly think of a worse fate for any society than to be led into the future by the political class of gangsters, marauders, looters, and liars. Even the most honest and well-intended among them are powerless to improve the world in any way except by diminishing rather than increasing their power. Politicians haven't the capacity to lead whole societies anywhere. They are outclassed and outrun by trends in the world economy that are beyond the ability of the political class to control or direct. The market economy—globalized, enormously powerful, breathtaking in scope and breadth—is remaking the world in ways that far surpass any existing political development in the US, from the crafted blather of Congressional hearings on this or that to the mad rush to grab the presidential brass rings. We are living through changes that may appear slow if observed from the point of view of the daily headlines, but which are momentously fast and completely transforming when looked at globally and from the point of view of years and decades into the future. These developments are going to bring about surprising political shifts, profound upsets in rooted cultural assumptions, and an eventual and merciful end to the US imperium. These changes will touch everyone in ways that will be both stunning and glorious for average Americans, and deeply disturbing for the American regime that aspires to unchallenged global hegemony. What is the underlying cause? The unleashing of human energies in nations that have been isolated, regimented, and closed for centuries. China, Malaysia, India, the countries of Latin America, and the new economies of Eastern Europe, among many others, are expanding at as much as twice the rate of American and European markets. This is not only remaking their nations, but the way we perceive the geographical distribution of wealth and power. Over time, and extended far into the future, this trend is going to mean dramatic upheavals in the way Americans perceive their role in the world. Within the institution of trade—whether on the most local level or the global level—we find the key to peace, prosperity, and human flourishing. The people in these emerging countries, confronted with new economic opportunities, are making the fruits of their labors, assisted by investments by US firms, available to American consumers, driving down prices and driving up the quality of everyday goods and services consumed by Americans. This phenomenon has been the saving grace of the US economy for a decade, and, in the future, it will become integral to our very lives. To get a glimpse of the change, take a tour of the local Wal-Mart, the largest company in the world, and take note of the stunning availability of a huge range of consumer goods at very low prices. Note too that such an array would be inconceivable without the work of international trade. From bicycles and electronics to foodstuffs and flowers, we find the shelves dominated by goods that were produced, in part or in whole, by countries outside US borders, and to this we owe the low prices and the quality that accords with US consumer preferences. Now, Wal-Mart isn't on some campaign to become the leading importer; it is only looking to make available to consumers all the things they want at the lowest possible prices. Where they find these goods is outside the US, where we find ever more comparative advantages. Every retailer in the world is taking notice of this fact, studying the case of Wal-Mart to see how and why it so quickly became the dominant player in the world economy. Its example of seeing both the wholesale and retail market as global in scope—all in the interest of consumer service—has taught the entire business class that nationalism and parochialism are losing propositions. The left may continue to rail against this company, and the right may continue to warn of its dangers to local culture and life, but the example is there for all to see. Average people love this company. It is all old-fashioned consumer service combined with a global reach to bring to average people things that improve their lot in life. Wal-Mart may eventually go the way of so many companies, displaced by some other firm that knows how to do it even better. The point is the model from which it is working. It is a global model focused on the individual buyer, and it works its wonders by depending on the voluntary decisions of average people. The nation state as such plays no part in its calculus, and this has proven to be the winning ticket. So it will continue to be. What about the economic impact? Is marketing all these wares to the world a danger? One might be initially alarmed by this, until one considers the savings to the consumer. For every dime saved in consumer prices, one more dime is made available for other pursuits, whether savings, consumption, or investment. It is this fact which is subsidizing American prosperity right now. Far from being a sign that America has lost its edge, it constitutes the world's gift to American consumers. The trade is mutually beneficial, producing winners on all sides, with the only losers being those American producers who can't seem to drive their costs down low enough to compete in the world marketplace. It is because of this, and despite the constant attempts by central banks to inflate the currency, that prices are continuing to fall for consumer goods. People who have noted these trends say that we should panic that there won't be any jobs left for Americans to do. What this forgets is the reality of scarcity in the world, which implies that there are always and everywhere jobs to do because there are always and everywhere unmet needs. Specialization and the division of labor permits Americans to produce most efficiently in a way that is integral to world demand and not waste time and resources in jobs that can be done more cheaply elsewhere. This does indeed mean a change in world patterns of production, but the market will manage the change with minimum disruption, as it has for the last several hundred years. For the developing world, it means something far more dramatic: a nearly complete abandonment of traditional economic pursuits that were imposed on them by virtue of their previous isolation from the capitalist West. The point is not that their economies are free or have been completely unleashed from the chains of the state. The US and Western Europe, in many respects, remain the most free economies. What matters here is the direction of change. Whereas the US and Europe are increasingly controlled, countries such as China, India, Romania, Poland, Thailand, and many others, are far less controlled than they once were. This has unleashed pent-up human energies and made a fantastic difference in the ability of these people to integrate themselves into the worldwide division of labor. This has meant rising incomes, better diets, less starvation, less disease, better sanitation, falling infant mortality, much longer lifespans, and ever more economic opportunities for work and investment. The fate of these economies has two major links to that of American citizens: in their capacity as consumers, they have a strong interest in seeing it continue, and, as investors, many portfolios of US investors are heavily invested in these emerging economies. The quality of life in these distant lands is increasing in ways that would have been unimaginable even a decade ago, with information technologies made available by the private sector coming into the hands of a new generation that relies on cell phones and high-speed web access, where their parents struggled barely to survive. The lifespan in China alone has risen from 25 years to 65 years in the course of a century. It also means more revenue for the governments of these countries, which, if driven to build up militaries to fend off US political influence, could eventually challenge the supremacy of the US in world public affairs. Again, this is nothing to regret. A world dominated by a single superpower is a gravely dangerous place, especially when that power is irresponsibly managed (and, some would say, is managed by maniacs). A decline in the power, might, and influence of the US is not the same thing as a decline in America; quite the opposite. The only real downside is the transition: the US government may increasingly behave like a dying and rabid animal, posing a danger to its random victims. But once you hear the "thud" of the final fall, the world will be more peaceful and prosperous than ever before. In the meantime, political trends in the US will become increasingly irrelevant, despite appearances. Until recently, Americans thought of themselves as a self-contained people with a nationally bound culture and economy that can be conceptualized and managed in the way that civics texts describe. This is on the verge of being impossible. The managerial class of the regime will continue to pose as experts and top-flight managers, but old assumptions about government are being shredded. Trends on this scale reduce the bellowing of politicians for protection to mere peeps. There is a tendency on the part of everyone to judge a historical moment by our own daily affairs and in relation only to the headlines that dominate the news. Economic analysis takes a much broader view to consider the overall impact of billions of people in many lands over a long period of time. It is through examining these trends that we can see that we are entering into a new world of global economic expansion that will rout any attempt to keep it at bay. Now, clearly, this will not occur without periods of crisis, particularly so long as the world is on a dollar standard and governments are still at work bringing calamity wherever they can. Take a look at where and how the products you use every day are made. Therein lies a remarkable story of the genius of entrepreneurship, the capacity for the world economy to manage itself and overcome ten thousand barriers, and the direction we are headed. It is a world in which consumers and producers from all nations can join hands in praise of the networks that draw them together, and against their common enemy: governments that would stand in the way. To understand the world being recreated before us, we must constantly keep this principle in our mind: trade based on ownership is always and everywhere mutually beneficial. Within the institution of trade—whether on the most local level or the global level—we find the key to peace, prosperity, and human flourishing. If we understand this, we have no reason to fear our fate except to the extent that anyone anywhere dares to interfere. If we understand this, we can see why being led into the future by the political class is something we should neither desire nor expect

Bob Seltzer, Salt Lake City, a Westminster College administrator "As Americans, no matter what your politics, people ought to be pleased that our leader, our president, was singled out for this honor -- the same way we were pleased when a professor from the University of Utah won a Noble Prize." Bob Seltzer, Salt Lake City, a Westminster College administrator "That is so ridiculous. First of all, why is he making efforts to reach out to the Muslim [world]? There are so many other issues close to home I feel should be dealt with before you go outside. Reagan, Lincoln and Washington, they never got any Nobel Prizes, and they were the ones who deserved it." Elizabeth Pedersen, Salt Lake City, student "Frankly, I think the best thing Obama has done for us relating to peace is end America's terrorist panic the Bush era brought about. That's what he should get the peace prize for." If he's reaching out this way [to other countries], I think that's good. It's not wrong to talk to people, right?" Kelly Klick, Salt Lake City student "People have done a lot more and not gotten a Nobel Peace Prize, but as far as the people in leadership positions and in power, he's doing a lot more. He's doing what no one else is doing, and that's kind of what the Nobel Peace Prize is about." Heather Stout, Salt Lake City, server and student The award "sends a message to the world that our leaders, and we as a people, are serious about working for peace." Allan Smart, Salt Lake City, vice president of the Gandhi Alliance for Peace The Nobel committee has appropriately recognized "that President Obama in a short time has reinvigorated diplomacy, improved our country's stature in the world community, and revived hope for peaceful resolution of international issues." Scott Matheson Jr., Salt Lake City, a professor at the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney School of Law. The President is right to see the award as a "call to action -- both an affirmation and an inspiration for nations to work together to reverse nuclear proliferation, address climate change, eliminate terrorism, and end armed conflict." Scott Matheson Jr., a professor at the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney School of Law. "Obama deserves credit for convincing much of the world that the United States is a nation that can once again be trusted with global leadership. This might just say how important it is that the United States does fill that leadership role." Michael Minch, Draper, Utah Valley University director of Peace and Justice Studies "The gold medal might hang heavy around Obama's neck as a standard upon which all of his future actions will be measured. There's no doubt that it will now be something of a burden." Michael Minch, Draper, Utah Valley University director of Peace and Justice Studies Lisa Schencker and Matthew D. Why am I having problems understanding my High-Tech Telecommunication job? I am a very intelligent, well-educated person who has recieved extensive training to perform my very High-Tech Telecommunications job. All three of my academic degrees are in Business Administration and Leadership fields but still with the training I have recieved I understand the concepts but actually working equipment/computer and telecommunications equipment I am very dense in understanding. I am beginning to feel stupid. I have been in my career field for a while (years-does not mean working equipment). I understand signal flow but the virtual stuff really confusses me. I am older than most of my coworkers and I am in my late thirties. I just do not have the understanding that my early to mid twenty coworkers naturally have. I really want to know why! I can perform a task but not really understand. I think cars and business. Honestly, I took/picked my job because I wanted to improve my weakness which is computers and technology. I understand that when I am through with military service I will not or want to do this job on the outside because I am not good at it. It does not come natural to me! I would appreciate so advice on the why. Thanks!

Liberals are followers and Bush is a leader. Its better to be right than popular? President Bush's Accomplishments Abortion & Traditional Values 1. Banned Partial Birth Abortion — by far the most significant roll-back of abortion on demand since Roe v. Wade. 2. Reversed Clinton's move to strike Reagan's anti-abortion Mexico Policy. 3. By Executive Order (EO), reversed Clinton's policy of not requiring parental consent for abortions under the Medical Privacy Act. 4. By EO, prohibited federal funds for international family planning groups that provide abortions and related services. 5. Upheld the ban on abortions at military hospitals. 6. Made $33 million available for abstinence education programs in 2004. 7. Supports the Defense of Marriage Act — and a Constitutional amendment saying marriage is between one man and one woman. 8. Requires states to conduct criminal background checks on prospective foster and adoptive parents. 9. Requires districts to let students transfer out of dangerous schools. 10. Requires schools to have a zero-tolerance policy for classroom disruption (reintroducing discipline into classrooms). 11. Signed the Teacher Protection Act, which protects teachers from lawsuits related to student discipline. 12. Expanded the role of faith-based and community organizations in after-school programs. Budget, Taxes & Economy 1. Signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history. 2. Supports permanent elimination of the death tax. 3. Turned around an inherited economy that was in recession, and deeply shocked as a result of the 9/11 attacks. 4. Is seeking legislation to amend the Constitution to give the president line-item veto authority. 5. In process of permanently eliminating IRS marriage penalty. 6. Increased small business incentives to expand and to hire new people. 7. Initiated discussion on privatizing Social Security and individual investment accounts. 8. Killed Clinton's "ergonomic" rules that OSHA was about to implement; rules would have shut down every home business in America. 9. Passed tough new laws to hold corporate criminals to account as a result of corporate scandals. 10. Reduced taxes on dividends and capital gains. 11. Signed trade promotion authority. 12. Reduced and is working to ultimately eliminate the estate tax for family farms and ranches. 13. Fight Europe's ban on importing biotech crops from the United States. 14. Exempt food from unilateral trade sanctions and embargoes. 15. Provided $20 million to states to help people with disabilities work from home. 16. Created a fund to encourage technologies that help the disabled. 17. Increased the annual contribution limit on Education IRA's from $500 to $2,000 per child. 18. Make permanent the $5,000 adoption tax credit and provide $1 billion over five years to increase the credit to $10,000. 19. Grant a complete tax exemption for prepaid or college tuition savings plans. 20. Reduced H1B visas from a high of 195,000 per year to 66,000 per year. Character & Conduct as President 1. Changed the tone in the White House, restoring HONOR and DIGNITY to the presidency. 2. Has reintroduced the mention of God and faith into public discourse. 3. Handled himself with enormous courage, dignity, grace, determination, and leadership in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 hijackings and anthrax attacks. He almost single-handedly held this country together during those searing days: Just three days after the attacks, in his address at the National Cathedral, the President reassured the nation when he said: "War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder. This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others. It will end in a way, and at an hour, of our choosing." On Friday, September 14, 2001, President Bush visited Ground Zero. Standing on a crushed and burned fire engine atop the smoldering pile at Ground Zero, he put his arm around a retired firefighter who had volunteered to help, and began speaking to the crowd. Rescue workers shouted that they could not hear him. Someone handed him a small American flag and bullhorn. The President spontaneously shouted: "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." The crowd roared with cheers and chants of "USA! USA! USA!" Then he raised that American flag and rallied a nation. Education & Employment Training 1. Signed the No Child Left Behind Act, delivering the most dramatic education reforms in a generation (challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations). The very liberal California Teachers union is currently running radio ads against the accountability provisions of this Act. 2. Announced "Jobs for the 21st Century," a comprehensive plan to better prepare workers for jobs in the new millennium by strengthening post-secondary education and job training, and by improving high school education. 3. Is working to provide vouchers to low-income students in persistently failing schools to help with costs of attending private schools. (Blocked in the Senate.) 4. Requires annual reading and math tests in grades three through eight. 5. Requires states to participate in the National Assessment of Education Progress, or an equivalent program, to establish a national benchmark for academic performance. 6. Requires school-by-school accountability report cards. 7. Established a $2.4 billion fund to help states implement teacher accountability systems. 8. Increased funding for the Troops-to-Teachers program, which recruits former military personnel to become teachers. Environment & Energy 1. Killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty. 2. Submitted a comprehensive Energy Plan (awaits Congressional action). The plan works to develop cleaner technology, produce more natural gas here at home, make America less dependent on foreign sources of energy, improve national grid, etc. 3. Established a $10 million grant program to promote private conservation initiatives. 4. Significantly eased field-testing controls of genetically engineered crops. 5. Changed parts of the Forestry Management Act to allow necessary cleanup of the national forests in order to reduce fire danger. 6. Part of national forests cleanup: Restricted judicial challenges (based on the Endangered Species Act and other challenges), and removed the need for an Environmental Impact Statement before removing fuels/logging to reduce fire danger. 7. Killed Clinton's CO2 rules that were choking off all of the electricity surplus to California. 8. Provided matching grants for state programs that help private landowners protect rare species. Defense & Foreign Policy 1. Successfully executed two wars in the aftermath of 9/11/01: Afghanistan and Iraq. 50 million people who had lived under tyrannical regimes now live in freedom. 2. Saddam Hussein is now in prison. His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured. 3. Leader by leader and member by member, al Maida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaeda leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed. The detentions or deaths of senior al Qaeda leaders, including Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, the mastermind of 9/11, and Muhammad Atef, Osama bin Laden's second-in-command until his death in late 2001, have been important in the War on Terror. 4. Disarmed Libya of its chemical, nuclear and biological WMD's without bribes or bloodshed. 5. Continues to execute the War On Terror, getting worldwide cooperation to track funds/terrorists. Has cut off much of the terrorists' funding, and captured or killed many key leaders of the al Qaeda network. 6. Initiated a comprehensive review of our military, which was completed just prior to 9/11/01, and which accurately reported that ASYMMETRICAL WARFARE capabilities were critical in the 21st Century. 7. Killed the old US/Soviet Union ABM Treaty that was preventing the U.S. from deploying our ABM defenses. 8. Has been one of the strongest, if not THE strongest friend Israel has ever hand in the U.S. presidency. 9. Part of the coalition for an Israeli/Palestinian "Roadmap to Peace," along with Great Britain, Russia and the EU. 10. Pushed through THREE raises for our military. Increased military pay by more than $1 billion a year. 11. Signed the LARGEST nuclear arms reduction in world history with Russia. 12. Started withdrawing our troops from Bosnia, and has announced withdrawal of our troops from Germany and the Korean DMZ. 13. Prohibited putting U.S. troops under U.N. command. 14. Paid back UN dues only in return for reforms and reduction of U.S. share of the costs. 15. Earmarked at least 20 percent of the Defense procurement budget for next-generation weaponry. 16. Increased defense research and development spending by at least $20 billion from fiscal 2002 to 2006. 17. Ordered a comprehensive review of military weapons and strategy. 18. Ordered a review of overseas deployments. 19. Ordered renovation of military housing. The military has already upgraded about 10 percent of its inventory and expects to modernize 76,000 additional homes this year. 20. Is working to tighten restrictions on military-technology exports. 21. Brought back our EP-3 intel plane and crew from China without any bribes or bloodshed. Globalization & Internationalism 1. Challenged the United Nations to live up to their responsibilities and not become another League of Nations (in other words, showed the UN to be completely irrelevant). 2. Killed U.S. involvement in the International Criminal Court. 3. Told the United Nations we weren't interested in their plans for gun control (i.e., the International Ban on Small Arms Trafficking Treaty).* 4. The only President since the founding of the UN to essentially tell that organization it is irrelevant. He said: "The conduct of the Iraqi regime is a threat to the authority of the United Nations, and a threat to peace. Iraq has answered a decade of UN demands with a decade of defiance. All the world now faces a test, and the United Nations a difficult and defining moment. Are Security Council resolutions to be honored and enforced, or cast aside without consequence? Will the United Nations serve the purpose of its founding, or will it be irrelevant?" We all know the outcome and the answer. 5. Told the Congress and the world, "America will never seek a permission slip to defend the security of our country." Government Reform 1. Improved government efficiency by putting hundreds of thousands of jobs put up for bid. This weakens public-sector unions and cuts undeserved pay raises. 2. Initiated review of all federal agencies with the goal of eliminating federal jobs (completed September 2003) in an effort to reduce the size of the federal government while increasing private sector jobs. 3. Led the most extensive reorganization the Federal bureaucracy in over 50 years: After 9/11, condensed 20+ overlapping agencies and their intelligence sectors into one agency, the Department of Homeland Security.* 4. Ordered each agency to draft a five-year plan to restructure itself, with fewer managers. 5. Converted federal service contracts to performance-based contracts wherever possible so that the contractor has measurable performance goals. Health 1. Strengthen the National Health Service Corps to put more physicians in the neediest areas, and make its scholarship funds tax-free. 2. Double the research budget of the National Institutes of Health. 3. Signed Medicare Reform, which includes: A 10-year privatization option. Prescription drug benefits: Prior to this reform, Medicare paid for extended hospital stays for ulcer surgery, for example, at a cost of about $28,000 per patient. Yet Medicare would not pay for the drugs that eliminate the cause of most ulcers, drugs that cost about $500 a year. Now, drug coverage under Medicare will allow seniors to replace more expensive surgeries and hospitalizations with less expensive prescription medicine. More health care choices: As President Bush stated, "…when seniors have the ability to make choices, health care plans within Medicare will have to compete for their business by offering higher quality service [at lower cost]. For the seniors of America, more choices and more control will mean better health care. These are the kinds of health care options we give to the members of Congress and federal employees. What's good for members of Congress is also good for seniors. New Health Savings Accounts: Effective January 1, 2004, Americans can set aside up to $4,500 every year, tax free, to save for medical expenses. Depending on your tax bracket, that means you'll save between 10 to 35 percent on any costs covered by money in your account. Every year, the money not spent would stay in the account and gain interest tax-free, just like an IRA. These accounts will be good for small business owners, and employees. More businesses can focus on covering workers for major medical problems, such as hospitalization for an injury or illness. At the same time, employees and their families will use these accounts to cover doctors visits, or lab tests, or other smaller costs. Some employers will contribute to employee health accounts. This will help more American families get the health care they need at the price they can afford. Homeland Security, Border Enforcement & Immigration 1. *See Government Reform above. Under President Bush's leadership, America has made an unprecedented commitment to homeland security. 2. Has CONSTRUCTION in process on the first 10 ABM silos in Alaska so that America will have a defense against North Korean nukes. Has ordered national and theater ballistic missile defenses to be deployed by 2004. 3. Announced a 9.7% increase in government-wide homeland security funding in his FY 2005 budget, nearly tripling the FY 2001 levels (excluding the Department of Defense and Project BioShield). 4. Before DHS was created, there were inspectors from three different agencies of the Federal Government and Border Patrol officers protecting our borders. Through DHS, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) now consolidates all border activities into a single agency to create "one face at the border." This not only better secures the borders of the United States, but it also eliminates many of the inefficiencies that occurred under the old system. With over 18,000 CBP inspectors and 11,000 Border Patrol agents, CBP has 29,000 uniformed officers on our borders. 5. The Border Patrol is continuing installation of monitoring devices along the borders to detect illegal activity. 6. Launched Operation Tarmac to investigate businesses and workers in the secure areas of domestic airports and ensure immigration law compliance. Since 9/11, DHS has audited 3,640 businesses, examined 259,037 employee records, arrested 1,030 unauthorized workers, and participated in the criminal indictment of 774 individuals. 7. Since September 11, 2001, the Coast Guard has conducted more than 124,000 port security patrols, 13,000 air patrols, boarded more than 92,000 vessels, interdicted over 14,000 individuals attempting to enter the United States illegally, and created and maintained more than 90 Maritime Security Zones. 8. Announced the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), an internet-based system that is improving America's ability to track and monitor foreign students and exchange visitors. Over 870,000 students are registered in SEVIS. Of 285 completed field investigations, 71 aliens were arrested. 9. This week, the US-VISIT program began to digitally collect biometric identifiers to record the entry and exit of aliens who travel into the U.S on a visa. Together with the standard information, this new program will confirm compliance with visa and immigration policies. 10. Eliminated INS bureaucratic redundancies and lack of accountability. 11. Split the Immigration and Naturalization Service into two agencies: one to protect the border and interior, the other to deal with naturalization. 12. Signed the workplace verification bill to prevent hiring of illegal aliens. 13. Established a six-month deadline for processing immigration applications. 14. Information regarding nearly 100% of all containerized cargo is carefully screened by DHS before it arrives in the United States. Higher risk shipments are physically inspected for terrorist weapons and contraband prior to being released from the port of entry. Advanced technologies are being deployed to identify warning signs of chemical, biological, or radiological attacks. Since September 11, 2001, hundreds of thousands of first responders across America have been trained to recognize and respond to the effects of a WMD attack. Judiciary & Tort Reform 1. Is urging federal liability reform to eliminate frivolous lawsuits. 2. Killed the liberal ABA's unconstitutional role in vetting federal judges. The Senate is supposed to advise and consent, not the ABA. 3. Is nominating strong, conservative judges to the judiciary. 4. Supports class action reform bill which limits lawyer fees so that more settlement money goes to victims. Politics 1. His leadership resulted in Republican gains in the House and Senate, solidifying Republican control of both houses of Congress and the presidency. 2. Signed an EO enforcing the Supreme Court's Beck decision regarding union dues being used for political campaigns against individual's wishes. Second Amendment 1. Ordered Attorney General Ashcroft to formally notify the Supreme Court that the OFFICIAL U.S. government position on the 2nd Amendment is that it supports INDIVIDUAL rights to own firearms, and is NOT a Leftist-imagined "collective" right. 2. Signed TWO bills into law that arm our pilots with handguns in the cockpit. 3. Currently pushing for full immunity from lawsuits for our national gun manufacturers. 4. *See Globalization & Internationalism. Traditional Values, Compassion & Volunteerism 1. Endorses and promotes "The Responsibility Era." President Bush often speaks of the necessity of personal responsibility and civic volunteerism. He said, "In a compassionate society, people respect one another and take responsibility for the decisions they make in life. My hope is to change the culture from one that has said, if it feels good, do it; if you've got a problem, blame somebody else — to one in which every single American understands that he or she is responsible for the decisions that you make; you're responsible for loving your children with all your heart and all your soul; you're responsible for being involved with the quality of the education of your children; you're responsible for making sure the community in which you live is safe; you're responsible for loving your neighbor, just like you would like to be loved yourself." 2. Started the USA Freedom Corps, the most comprehensive clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities ever offered. For the first time in history, Americans can enter geographic information about where they want to get involved, such as state or zip code, as well as areas of interest ranging from education to the environment, and they can access volunteer opportunities offered by more than 50,000 organizations across the country and around the world. 3. Established the The White House Office and the Centers for the Faith-Based and Community Initiative — located in seven Federal agencies. The faith-based initiative supports the essential work of these important organizations. The goal is to make sure that grassroots leaders can compete on an equal footing for federal dollars, receive greater private support, and face fewer bureaucratic barriers. Work focuses on at-risk youth, ex-offenders, the homeless and hungry, substance abusers, those with HIV/AIDS, and welfare-to-work families. 4. The White House released a guidebook fully describing the Administration's belief that faith-based groups have a Constitutionally-protected right to maintain their religious identity through hiring — even when Federal funds are involved. 5. Issued an EO implementing the Supreme Court's Olmstead ruling, which requires moving disabled people from institutions to community-based facilities when possible. 6. Increased funding for low-interest loan programs to help people with disabilities purchase devices to assist them. 7. Revised the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 8 rent subsidies to disabled people, permitting them to use up to a year's worth of vouchers to finance down payments on homes. HUD has started pilot programs in 11 states. 8. Committed US funds to purchase medicine for millions of men, women and children now suffering with AIDS in Africa. 9. Heeding the words of our own Declaration of Independence, the president laid out the non-negotiable demands of human dignity for all people everywhere. On January 29, 2002, he said, "No nation owns these aspirations, and no nation is exempt from them. We have no intention of imposing our culture. But America will always stand firm for the non-negotiable demands of human dignity." As stated by the President, they are a virtual manifesto of conservative principles: Equal Justice Freedom of Speech Limited Government Power Private Property Rights Religious Tolerance Respect for Women Rule of Law

Why do libs avoid President Bush's Accomplishments? President Bush's Accomplishments Spotted at Rightnation.us and GOPUSA.com reprinted here for your pleasure. I encourage people who support Bush to learn how effective our President has been, and liberals ought to browse this too. Just remember, the liberal media can't cover up the truth of his accomplishments. The Bush Administration 2001-2004 Abortion & Traditional Values 1.

What kind of jobs aren't very redundant, but are extremely high paying for a fairly short period of time? I've had several job offers which I'm considering taking- I'm doing pretty good with everything I'm doing, so I don't think I'm going to struggle with whatever I do- however, I really just want a short-term, high paying job. I Finished first in my undergrad class with a 3.96 GPA, Finishing graduate school with a 3.8 GPA finishing in the top 5% of the class in a ranked school. Tons of leadership experiences and organizational involvement including student body president, founder of numerous organizations, advisor to the president, athletics, etc. etc. Can't find any jobs that I'm at all interested in, so I decided I want to run my own company. I've been running a business on the side to pay for what my full rides didn't for school, so its nothing new and I'm good at it. The problem is I need some more reliable cash for the next year or two. so I can get settled and afford insurance and such until I get my business pumping out enough cash to support me completely. I've got some patents I recently filed that I'm hoping to leverage a bit, but I'm not going to be able to do it in time to make enough, nor do I have enough cash to really do anything with them at this precise moment. Any ideas for fairly high paying jobs I could do for a year or two so I can build up a small nest egg? (or a lower paying part time job that can pay for those things while I build up my company?) My undergrad is Engineering, my masters is an MBA w/concentrations in Marketing and Supply Chain, but I'm real good with anything technology, manufacturing, artistic, marketing, strategy, business development, and training wise. I'm outgoing, a good manager and a good leader. I'm good with working with people, and have been recognized with several awards and scholarships for leadership. Not that it really matters, but I have an IQ of 172, and although I've been successful without medication, (therefore not taking any at school), I do deal with ADHD so redundant tasks are pretty tough for me. Other than that, I'm a work-a-holic, and love challenging situations! Thanks for any ideas!

The example that he cited are based on relationships, yes- whether they be a cousin or a hairdresser. However, the GREAT BIG DIFFERENCE is that when someone goes out of their way to verbally expound the degree of influence that someone has on you as well as when you tout this person as a role model or "mentor" - well now this is VERY dofferent. By doing this, you indeed are connecting yourself to this person in every way since you indicated that their beliefs were used to mentor and foster your own beliefs. When you look up to someone as a mentor or role model, you are believing in the basic principles of theirs. Obama's open statements to th ereverend being his spiritual mentor and best friend makes his beliefs as suspect as the reverend's. In addition, Obama can now denounce all he wants to but how could he be a parishioner for 17 years and listen to these types of statements if as Obama NOW states are "outrageous"? I think that we need to realy questiob Obama's truthfullness or question his judgement. In either case, the country should seriously reconsider any support for such a candidate. It is frightening that Obama's paltform really emphasizes "change" and his real agenda would seem to indicate other. We need to change our support to Senator Clinton and assure her success in November.3/17/2008 9:05:12 PMRecommend (0) Report Abuse Discussion Policy LISANROY wrote:amemended comments of dr kamal roy dt 3,17,2008LISANROY wrote:COMmENTS OF REV DR KAMAL KARNA Karuna ROY A REPUBLICAN CANIDATE AND HoPEFUL TO BE the NOMINEE OF GOP IN SCHEDULED ELECTION FOr NOV 4, 2008, IF BE HELD WITHOUT any COURT ORDER OF INJUNCTION to postpone corrpt election as PRAYED BY DR kamal k k ROY ALLEGING SKY_HIGH AND CLOUD_DARK CORRUPTIONS BY DEFENDANTS IN CIVIL ACTIONS FILED IN 20+ U S D COURT actions in 20+ different JURISDICTIONS with allegations against defendants for negligence to enforce laws not TO PUSH OUT ELECTORAL CONTESTANTS FROM WEAKER COMMUNITIES OF HAVE-nots 3/17/2008 9:04:05 PMRecommend (0) Report Abuse Discussion Policy rmorris391 wrote:well this is "midly amusing". It is a thinly veiled attempt to incite debate over issues, and non-issues, which may be unrelated to the national campaign. While the Mainstream Media (MSM) has too much time on its hands, to consider a long winded campaign, the focus has shifted to non-political discourse, about intractable problems that confound american society. We have issues related to baseball players, after all, who alledgedly used illegal substances to puff up their biceps. Certainly, congress can devise a surge campaign to intervene with major league baseball, and save the poor players from the rich players. After all, the economic crisis in MLB is looming, and requires some "foreign ownership equity." This is, afterall the land of "ownership." At least that is what a young president Bush promised the american public. Dr. Joseph Geronimo, Jr.) is a prolific pro se litigant who, since at least the early 1990s, has filed numerous lawsuits throughout the United States and its territories under the names Roy and Joseph Geronimo, Jr., as well as under the names of entities that he is affiliated with, including International Siva Consciousness & World Religions, Reforms International, Handicap Interests International, and Jungle Democracy.[1] Roy's lawsuits are often brought against multiple defendants, and feature long, unconventional complaints. Roy has filed lawsuits against God, U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, fast food restaurants, foreign leaders.[2], and Wikipedia [3] [4].Roy's lawsuits have addressed, among many other things, actions taken by President George W. Bush, overcharging by telecommunication companies, the appointment of Chief Justice John Roberts to the Supreme Court, and "failure of democratic societies and God's role therein."[5] In 2006 Judge Michael W. McConnell of The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit described a typical Roy complaint:Roy, a/k/a Joseph Geronimo, Jr. filed a 115-page complaint, a 144-page amended complaint, and a 40-page second amended complaint against over sixty defendants, including among many others President Bush, God as U.S.-based divine benefactor, several government agencies, The New York Times, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In addition to pages of rambling discourse, the complaint contains numerous illegible handwritten remarks.[6]The Tenth Circuit went on to affirm the district court's dismissal of the complaint holding that no discernible claim was apparent from the complaint. Judge McConnell also humorously noted that the court "strongly suspect[ed] at least one defendant was not properly served."[7]Most, if not all, of Roy's complaints have been dismissed. A 2006 United States District Court for the District of Delaware opinion, Jungle Democracy v. U.S., describes Roy as "no stranger to litigation" and provides a partial list of Roy lawsuits that have been dismissed since 1991.[8]Despite Roy's lack of success in the courts, his lawsuits have been discussed in law school classrooms and in law related blogs.[9] [10]In April 2007 Roy filed a civil rights action against, among others, CBS Broadcasting Inc., MSNBC, the United States Government, and controversial radio shock jock Don Imus.[11]In October, 2007, Roy filed a suit in the US District Court, Middle District of Florida, against "Wikipedia Encyclopedia, USA, All News Media, All State Board of Elections, Federal Election Commission". Spouse a common law wife Children some, maintained by natural mother concerned Kamal Karna Roy (a/k/a Kamal K.K. Roy, a/k/a Rev. Handled himself with enormous courage, dignity, grace, determination, and leadership in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 hijackings and anthrax attacks. He almost single-handedly held this country together during those searing days Just three days after the attacks, in his address at the National Cathedral, the President reassured the nation when he said: "War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder. USA! USA!" His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured. Leader by leader and member by member, al Qaida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaida leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed. The detentions or deaths of senior al Qaida leaders, including Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, the mastermind of 9/11, and Muhammad Atef, Osama bin Laden's second-in-command until his death in late 2001, have been important in the War on Terror. Told the United Nations we weren't interested in their plans for gun control (i.e., the International Ban on Small Arms Trafficking Treaty).* The only President since the founding of the UN to essentially tell that organization it is irrelevant. Will the United Nations serve the purpose of its founding, or will it be irrelevant?" We all know the outcome and the answer. is this how Chinese emperor thinks? Attack those you need most and attempt to imbue them with unearned guilt! We've seen this game before, Mr. Commie-Thug Dictator; or shall we call you Mr. Wen? Chinese Premier Wen Jiaboa took to the Davos stage yesterday to attack the US and the West; it borders on comical. But sadly, the elite gathered at Davos are foolish enough to lap it up like the simpering capitalist dogs Mr. Wen believes they represent, and for the most part he is probably right. It is too fresh that Mr. Wen attacks the system that has helped his country pull millions from poverty and allowed for the transition of the Commies to represent a new happy face to the world even though their underlying intention of complete control of everything they touch, no matter how they must cheat and steal to achieve this goal, has never changed. This proves Chinese disrespect to world and west again. It proves enough china is only about violating human right and creating financial crisis in world.hat has changed is the degree to which the Western business elites have been duped into thinking this is a regime they can really do business with. Which goes to the rotting core of the leadership of our multinational companies and political elites in the West; again Mr. Wen exploits this well. Think of the big hedge fund investments of the former politicos who along with the first-tier Western multinationals who hold vast Chinese asset investments. It is very much in their interest to pretend dealing with China is free trade. Interesting this same crowd represents the major funding for "think" tanks that get so much press and ink in order to spout the mantra of "free trade." Lies flow from both sides - indeed. If the dictator commie thug wasn't so busy making sure any real dissent in his own country was stifled and the proper threats to the state dealt with, maybe he and his gang would have provided more domestic choices for his own people with all their wealth gained from dealing with the system he now supposedly finds so repugnant. My musing on a bit of Wen self-dialogue; it might go something like this: Heck, if we create a real domestic market it might increase citizens' political power; we can't have that ... well, not yet. We just don't quite have enough internet monitoring equipment and software from Cisco, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Google (and other assorted tier-one western companies) to control 100%--but those dupes keep upgrading our ability to electronically enslave our people, so soon we can create a domestic market with Chinese "character." But since we are not there yet, let's continue to play the export model game that has enriched us so well. You know the game: invite all the Western companies in to produce in China. We make it a quid pro quo - in order to gain access to our vast consumer market we make those greedy dupes produce here and transfer technology to us. We treat them pretty good and gain access to hundreds of billions worth of technology funded by Western shareholders. And of course we outright steal the gold teeth from all the second- and third-tier manufacturers we invite into the country. Those clowns don't have well-funded think tanks to tell their story. No, instead those think tank dupes will continue to spout the mantra of "free trade" as we steal technology and jobs and hollow out Western manufacturing to boot. Gosh this is too easy. Wen's call for global action should be seen for what it is: China has milked the export model for years (granted low cost final goods have benefited to a degree, but recycling excess reserves is what created the asset bubbles and led Mr. Consumer to over indebtedness - it was not the other way around) and it is now crashing before their eyes; they've stolen Western technology for years to boost export prowess; they have suppressed their currency for years to make its final goods even cheaper in order to keep the export machine humming; and we all know China's enrichment was built on the backs of the blue collar workers in all industrialized nations. We have allowed for the hollowing out Western manufacturing so the power elites and the heads of our multinationals can enrich themselves through China.
china abuses usa on currency crimes issue again.why don't china realizes it? We just don't quite have enough internet monitoring equipment and software from Cisco, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Google (and other assorted tier-one western companies) to control 100%--but those dupes keep upgrading our ability to electronically enslave our people, so soon we can create a domestic market with Chinese "character." Politically are we still in the Dark Ages? By Cathy Tinsley Sunday, June 1, 2008; Page B07 : Washington Post Last month it became increasingly clear that Hillary Clinton may no longer be within reach of the Democratic presidential nomination. While it is uncertain when Clinton's historic candidacy will actually end, many in the media and in political circles are debating the role sexism played in her defeat. How did the once-inevitable candidate, who was destined to be America's first female president, lose this nomination battle? Was it her past? Was it her husband? Or is America just not ready for a female president? Although it's difficult to draw definitive conclusions, behavior and attitudes in the corporate sphere shed some light on the answers to these questions. Unfortunately, the picture suggests we still have work to do. In a series of studies involving hundreds of participants since 2005, my colleagues and I have found systematic social and financial backlash against even mildly assertive female executives. In one study, for example, people judged the behavior of a hypothetical human resources manager (alternately male or female) negotiating for a refund on unused hotel space. Female managers were judged as significantly more offensive, and less likely to receive any refund, than male managers, even though all managers engaged in exactly the same behavior. In later studies in which human resources managers asked for a refund, displaying mildly assertive behavior, the behavior was routinely judged appropriate when displayed by a man but offensive when displayed by a woman. In another set of experiments, a finance director (again, alternately a man or a woman) had to choose between attending to a work crisis (an information technology system crash) or a family emergency (a sick child). When the finance director was female and chose to stay at work, she was seen as competent but unlikable. When the female finance director went home, she was rated as incompetent but likable. Yet the choices male finance directors made did not matter -- the men were always judged to be fairly likable and competent. The bottom line, again, is that the same male and female behaviors evoke different judgments, with women all too often being forced to choose between being viewed as likable or competent. Although I think, and hope, that we are more or less past the time when women are denied opportunities in politics, sports or business, the results of these studies do not suggest an end to discriminatory attitudes. Americans still appear to perceive and evaluate men and women differently even when they engage in the same behavior. Two other lessons stood out. First, the backlash against women appears to be unconscious. When confronted with the results of these studies, participants were very surprised by their reactions. They appeared to have no idea that they subscribed to these gender stereotypes about appropriate behavior or that they judged women more harshly. Second, women were as willing to criticize the female executives as men were. This is not a gender war; women are not fighting men. They are fighting our culture, our prescribed set of norms that constrain their behavior into a rigid set of "appropriate" categories. Although we may be able to recall vivid examples of minorities who judge their own group harshly, women are perhaps the only "low status" group whose members systematically and every bit as harshly show prejudice toward fellow members. As we close the book on Hillary Clinton's campaign and what was to be the first female presidency, we are forced to reassess. Are we ready yet? The writer, a professor at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, is executive director of the Georgetown Women's Leadership Initiative.

What sort of support we can expect for such non-profit organisation ? About us Nepal Integrated Blind development association (NIBDA) is anon profit making social organization. NIBDA has been working as one of the leading social organization in the field of disability specially since 1997.NIBDA has 9 vision impaired persons (5male and 4 female) in executive board and general members are 2500 in 54 districts. It has a very committed and experiences persons who has been contributing to make organization alive. We are able to gain a faith from the individuals, business companies and government agencies as well. This was really tuff job to bring organisation in this position without any donation and financial support of donors. Besides, we got 1.5 hecter land (present value $ 969,230/-) donated by the local government as a reward of our sincerity and honesty. The former Minister of Social welfare and Minister of foreign affair is member in our advisory board. NIBDA aims to fulfil the basic needs of visually impaired persons. "Basic needs are basic rights" Such persons will participate in different developmental activities so that their rights will be ensured. We basically focus on rehabilitation program that is, we provide vocational trainings to the blind people and help them to rehabilitate in their own society. We have a running Vocational Training Centre (VTC) under the organization since last13 years. Beside we are also conducts different awareness programs in the different society through out the country to ensure their fundamental rights, including right to live as well Currently, we are striving to develop our vocational training centre (TTC) as a national technical school. We are requesting the government and other concern bodies to certify us as per the current rules and regulations. Vocational and technical skill can be the best option for their income generating activities and to uplift their living standard. Programme Insights Different INGOs are interested to support to improve living condition for the persons with disability in Nepal but they are not disaggregated .A few disability welfare organisations launching the programme in urban areas. Improvement of living condition of persons with disability is a responsibility of government. In this connection, NGOs should be screened whether they are focussing disables in rural areas or not, whether they are fully political party oriented or not. Conflict victims, blind women and children, and a poor blind person are more vulnerable groups in the society. So we have to be aware in designing programme and formulating policies to address their felt needs in an integrated manner. "Right to sight" is a right perspective vision. Welfare to rights, micro-macro-micro linkages is to be considered while implementing programme. We should have clear M&E system and follow up accordingly. In this way, support could be worthwhile for the improvement of person with disability. Blindness is simply an inconvenience that can be overcome and we shall overcome with your help……. Blind's eyes may not good but brains, hands and feet are more active than normal people. How much dollars spent for the improvement of living condition of people but what exactly, blind people benefited is a crucial question that we have to ask ourselves. Programme activities, skill enhancement, training materials, study materials and facilities for the blinds should not be generalised. NIBDA current programme activities NIBDA has been implementing different programme activities for the blind. Such programme is different than programme of ables. Both right based and service oriented programme is combined here. Preventable blindness programme, public awareness raising, assistive technology, vocational training, income generating activities, scholarship support, building networks among blinds, leadership development of members, and organisational capacity building are some of the major programme for the visually impaired persons. NIBDA is also one of the active members of CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation) network. CBR is a network of disable organisations. More than4500 visually impaired persons are benefited from NIBDA directly. It has made significant change in their lives. We have many opportunities and challenges that we have to grab opportunities and face challenges carefully. The perceptions of normal people looking towards the blind are being positive which has created working environment. Such progressive qualitative and quantitative change will be documented and shared with stakeholders and funding partners as well. Future Programme The following are some of the new programmes planned for coming days and current programme activities are to be continued together with new activities. •Exchange sharing programme with abroad visionary impaired persons •Establish low vision clinic •Lobbying government line agencies •Leadership capacity building •Establish National Technical School and Rehabilitation Centr
Can I make it into NYU? So the #1 college of my dreams is NYU, and I wanted to know if you guys think that I could make it in. Since I'm a junior, I haven't taken my SAT's, but I have been studying for them, and plan on doing very well on them (I was in the top 85% in the country for the PSAT's). I want to major in some sort of Business program, and plan on applying next fall. I feel confident with my letters of recommendations that I would get, and believe that I am in the first decile of my grade (my school doesn't rank students, unless the college of their choice 100% needs to know their class rank). So, with that being said, here are my grades, my G.P.A, and all of my extracurriculars: GPA- 3.98 Classes- Freshman Year: Honors English---B+ Creative Drama---A Global Studies---A- Honors Algebra II---A Intergrated Science---A- Spanish II- A Intro to Business--- A Word Processing--- A- Gym/Health--- A Sophmore: English Foundations II Honors--- A- American Government--- A Modern European Hisory--- A Honors Geometry--- A Biology--- A Spanish III--- A Entrepreneurship--- A Graphic Communications--- A Gym--- A+ Junior (Currently): Honors Pre-Calculus--- A- Marketing I--- A Honors Chemistry--- A- AP Psychology--- A- American Studies--- A- Spanish IV--- A+ Activities: - Active member for 6 years at my church's youth group. -Key Club (a community service club) member for 3 years. -President of my school's Broadcasting Club (3 years) -Eagle Scout for The Boy Scouts of America -TSA (Technology Student Association) member for 2 years. - DECA (a marketing club) member for 1 year. - FLBA (Business Club) member for 1 year. -People to People Student Ambassador for 2 years. -Went through several Leadership programs and confrences. - Asked to teach at a leadership conference. -Member of the National Honors Society for 1 year. -Member of the Spanish National Honor Society for 1 year. -Work experience babysitting and making slide show movies for family and friends. So, do you guys think that if I do well on my SAT's (where do you think I should score???), keep my grades up for the rest of the year, and get good letters of recommendation that I have a chance of getting into NYU? I mean, I read their website a million times, and have checked tons of websites talking about NYU, but it scares me to know that they only accept 25% of people who apply. Any suggestions on what else I could do to increase my chances of getting in (including more activites, ideas for my essay, etc), or any suggestion on things I should be doing now to get ready for applying? Please be as honest as possible with me, becuase I really want to make it in. Thank you SO MUCH in advance!! ~Chris P.S- If any of you are in, got accepted, or have previously went to NYU, what were your specs before applying?
