Should we stop electing lawyers into politics and elect more business people?

After all, running the country is a lot like running a business and lawyers don't seem to know what they're doing.

  1. We need a nice mix of different backgrounds. Doctors, lawyers, military personnel, business leaders. But definitely not all lawyers
  2. YES!
  3. No way, Bush was a business man President Clinton was a lawyer. I'll take a lawyer any day.
  4. Actually lawyers are good for drafting legislation so, they really are uniquely qualified for Congress and the Judicial branch. On the other hand, the Presidency should come from a diverse background. I don't know if I want any more people from the business world though after Bush Jr. and his bailout/takeover of all investment banks.
  5. Elect people like you and me that will represent our interest and know the struggles we face. Real honest transparent representation is the main goal.
  6. Lawyers are the only ones with low enough standards to run for political office. Why would a businessman want to take such a pay cut just so half the population can insult him? It does kinda say something about the standards of someone like H.Ross Perot, doesn't it?
  7. Yes, Less Lawyers and more Business people.
  8. How about people that care about this country? Fucking lawyers and business people are destroying America!
  9. We definitely need more business people in Politics. Attorneys can always be hired to draft legislation. Attorneys rarely have the experience to know what legislation is needed. Someone with experience running a business knows much better what policies need to be made and implemented than an attorney.
  10. Oh my gawd, NO! This style of thinking led to our first Harvard MBA president, W. And we got 911, Homeland Security, Enron, Katrina, Iraq, Guantanamo, Afghanistan, suspension of posse comitatus, meltdown of the financial system and other insults to the Constitution and the rule of law--simply because he just didn't 'get it.' At least the lawyers KNOW when they're breaking the law!
  11. I totally agree with you. All lawyers know how to do is Blah, Blah,Blah....and listen to themselves talk. They love that. What about term limits to send them back to their offices to Blah, Blah, Blah. Business people understand running a business and have to confront the Bottom Line each month. Cheers for you!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Good Idea. Let's elect more preachers (this will get rebuffs, ha)
  13. After what Enron, Madoff and the rest have done to this country, I think all the business people will be in prison.
  14. I agree we've got far too many lawyers in government, but business people haven't had such a great track record lately either, you know?
  15. Absolutely. Small business owners, farmers, etc. We have way too many lawyers in government now. Maybe lawyers ought to be banned from holding public office. If we need legislation crafted, with all the legal language spelled out, we can always hire them for that purpose.
  16. Definitely YES, get down to earth working men & women in office than we would have no Depression. Money will flow were needed, & no more Polosi ,or Harry Reid, ETC. Senior;s will be better off life will be good
  17. You are going under the assumption that people realize the hand that the lawyer infested Congress has in this mess that we find ourselves. But once again, lawyers are running everything. The bad news is, they are all Liberal lawyers who could not make a living practicing law so no they make a living out of making laws. The good news is, they are all Liberal Lawyers and they can't blame Republicans for they mistakes they make. To be sure they will try, and there will be plenty of idiots who believe them, but we will know differently.
  18. Yes, lawyers are making our life way more complicated than even they can handle, look at the health insurance plans, IRS, I want simplicity in life. Less of them in power better off we are.
