Obama wants USA to double its exports over the nxt five years-does he want us to become China?
From my point of view, what he asks us to do is become a mini-China, with our main GDP coming from exports. From what it sounds like, he wants us to become like China, but in a differect industrial sector. Am i right or wrong, provide feedback and critisizm plz.

- hell, with all the imports already coming from CHina, I am amaze that we don't have a single golden star on a red background on our flag. What happened to the MADE IN THE USA logos that were all over the place when I was a kid?
- No, he just doesn't want us overtaken by the Chinese considering they kick our ass in exports.
- i can`t see anything wrong with him saying that .a high export rate give a country a healthy economy but doubling it is easier said than done there are some very competative markets out there
- I'm not sure if he wants us to be CHina or just be a stronger USA. What's wrong with exporting goods at a higher rate? ???
- He wants us not to need China as much as we do now. Wow.....some people really don't listen.
- I'll bet you didn't know that the chief export of the USA to China is empty containers, for them to refill. That's what he would like to fix, or even turn around. I'd restore the law that Reaganites struck down. When a factory opens up in Asia using cheap labor, guess who usually built the factory? It's the company that closes its doors in the USA and opens them in a poor country over there. Until Reagan , that was against the law. Wouldn't it be nice if we restored that law? Oh yes, and we might also do away with the tax breaks for the industrialists who do it.
- I see your point. The only way to do this due to current treaties is to greatly devalue the dollar so imported goods become more costly and exported goods cheaper abroad. Of course, that means the 60% of our oil used that is imported increases in price adding to the inflationary spiral that the pay-back bill (or bail out, if you prefer) has started. The old way was with tariffs but it is well understood that the Hoover tariffs had much to do with the severity of the Great Depression. Of course, it is also widely understood that FDR's wild spending and the USA's default on loans increased its severity and length too. Amnesty and adding to the 100x greater then average immigrant rate could also drive wages down enough to do this. I sure hope he is blowing more smoke like usual.
