Do products that claim to add about 35 horsepower to a car such as the Turbonator really work?

Do these products really work? Does anyone know from personal experience? Can anyone recommend any products like the turbonator that add horsepower?

  1. No. They do not work and are not based on science. They are based on what you want to hear and believe. Just swirling the air around will not add anything but turbulance to the air flow. In some applications this could result in lower performance and MPG not better.
  2. if its cheap and says something like "5 minutes to install" stay away, there is no substitute for elbow grease and/or cash, otherwise you liable to end up with something that doesn't work
  3. They work as well as the ones that claim to give you 35% better mileage. I put four of those on my car and I had gas overflowing out of the tank so I had to remove a couple. I think you get my point....There are so many of these "power boosters" on the market and it is sad people believe the hype.
  4. i say no,check with bbb for a larger viewpoint, but i feel its just another scam.so many items out there that claim the same thing but the increase doesnt justify the cost.most claim such a small increase,if you want more power why settle for 5 or 10,try for at least 50+ for your money and a gimmick wont do it.
  5. No, they are just gimmicks. The guys that manufacture and sell the junk play the numbers game. If they tell a good believable story they will sell a million of them. Most people won't challenge them because they will have a hundred disclaimers or excuses. They will tell you that you did something wrong causing the part not to perform as claimed. Things like NOS Nitrous systems, turbochargers or superchargers will increase horsepower but the engines have to be built correctly to withstand the increased pressures.
  6. They only give you about 5 instead of the 35 that they tell you. They Cost some where around $60. It circulate the air To really add Horsepower to any vehicle try a K&N Filters can add any where from 5 to 15 horsepower all depending on what type of vehicle you have. It saves you on fuel and gives better accerlation, it also make your vehicle breathe better as well.
  7. k&n filter will cause you problems if your car has a mass air sensor and you over oil the filter. there is no magic to the internal combustion engine all it is, is an air pump if you can get more air in and more air out you will make more power, K&n will make a little more power but they do hurt maf sensors take this as you will. without knowing what you car is its hard to suggest a direction to go in for a little more power. best start is a new tune for the ecm and a good exhuast system(not a hacked in muffler)
